💡 Volunteering as an online teacher:
The students love the opportunity to practice and learn English, and your support will give them the confidence and skills they need to hold onto their dreams.
You will teach online, at times to be decided, but no less than one 90 minute session per week.
We will support you with planning lessons, suggesting resources, and ensuring that classes of students are grouped with similar level language abilities, and experiences - e.g. young nuns in university, or older teens.

To ensure the best experience for all, here are some key points:
- Reliability is essential. We ask that you stick to the schedule you agree with the monks,
- You need a strong, stable internet connection.
- For their online safety, it’s crucial that teachers are apolitical and avoid discussing politics.
- For their security, our teacher volunteers must be readily identifiable to GAFV online, with a clear social media presence. If you send us a social media profile that is very new, or sparse in content, we will not be able to accept your application.
Here’s what we’ll need to move forward:

3. A recent police record check.
4. A short, friendly video interview with us (up to 15 minutes) to verify your identity and language skills.
Our admin fee to support our work is minimal. For those developed countries on:

You'll support the regular teacher in the classroom, helping to create engaging lessons and meaningful interactions with students.
You’ll take part in planning lessons, and identifying the various roles you can play developing the students’ English language skills.
You will have a Meet and Greet at the airport, and you can arrive any day, for a start on Monday or Tuesday.

Join us teaching in government primary and secondary schools in Kathmandu on the Roof of the World. Volunteers are welcomed by teachers and pupils for bringing opportunities to them to learn. The schools are a 15 minute walk from our partner’s hotel, through interesting streets or 5 mins by bus.

You teach through English for 3-5 days week, giving you time to enjoy the vibrant culture of Nepal, or trek the Himalayas with our partners.

Primary schools are for ages 6-11, with secondary 11-19. Nepal’s schools run 6/7 days form Mon- Sat. They begin at 10:00, and finish at 16:00, except for Friday, when they finish at 15:00. You can participate too suit yourself, although we recommend you volunteer a 4 day week, or even 3 if you are there on a gap year.
You can join this project as an individual or with a group, teaching in schools through English.
You’ll stay at our partner’s hotel and be fully supported by them. Full board is provided 7/7.
Our partners are an established Himalayas trekking and tour company, and you can choose to join tours led by our partners, or do you own sightseeing your own way.

In Kenya, pupils aged 6+ receive free government education, but before that, private pre-schools lay the foundation for learning.

🌱 Located near Nairobi, a women’s cooperative runs its own KG, freeing the mothers to work, and ensuring their children are supported, fed, play, learn, and even pick up English!

✨join us and support the education of 80 bright young minds across 4 classes, guided by 5 dedicated teachers.

KG hours are 08:00 -15:30, during which time the children play learn to speak and read English, and to speak and write Swahili. The local language Kiswahili is also used, so if you want to pick up some local saying, you can here.
The KG is located 15 minutes walk from the hostel that you’ll stay at where you volunteer, which is run by the women’s cooperative and is next to their HQ.
You’ll have full board 7/7, and the women organise trips to nature conservancies and other places to help you make the most of your time in Kenya
