Project Description

Join the Luhya people replanting and regenerating the natural resources of the Kakamega forest, developing and keeping alive, forest agricultural practices. You will support the conservation of forest cultural heritage and practices, as well as the flora and fauna of the remnants of this once vast guinea-equatorial rainforest that spanned Central Africa.

Identify traditional medicinal plants, find and store seeds, plant caterpillar plant food to conserve butterflies, as well as snakes, birds, and monkeys. Take part in ecology awareness training for children and youth through school outreach

Project Description

Volunteer with a community making their living sustainable. They are replanting the coastal mangrove forest, looking after turtles on the turtle hatchery beach, developing tourism, and crab aquaculture in the waterways of the mangroves to develop incomes.

This is an ideal project for those that enjoy variety, and being involved with the community. Of course, you’ll be asked to go into their schools too, supporting the development of environmental awareness amongst the students.

Project Description:

Volunteer with a Rift Valley based NGO established in 1884, and has been working with small-scale community farmers for 140 years. Prepare seeds and saplings for planting, make organic fertiliser and insecticide, and apply the principles of bio-intensive agricultural practices to new and traditional farming methods.
